Short Biography

Clare heads up the estate planning & capacity team at Preston Legal, Jersey. She specialises in estate planning for local and international clients, including complex Will drafting and cross border succession planning. Clare advises on capacity related issues for both local and international clients including the drafting and registration of lasting powers of attorney. Clare acts as delegate (financial guardian) for those who no longer have capacity to manage their own financial affairs and as guardian for minors who have inherited assets. Clare is ranked as Next Generation partner by the Legal 500 and in Chambers.Clare is the current chair of the Jersey Law Society Sub Committee for Capacity & Succession.

What is your favorite restaurant to take a client or colleague to?

Longueville Manor. Old school hospitality at its best.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

The best piece of advice I have received is to trust in yourself, accept failure and always present clients with a solution.

What was your first job?

Working in a local, independent book shop.

What is the book you recommend to everyone?

Currently Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell.

What changes do you expect to see in your practice over the next year?

We are seeing more and more of a push towards digitalisation:- documentation and government and court processes. I expect that to continue.
