What has been the highlight of your practice over the past 12 months?

Working with my charities clients in conjunction with their third party advisors in relation to the thorny topic of fiduciary responsibilities and sustainable investing. This has led to deep discussions around purpose and how this is expressed through their investments.

How did you get into private client?

I have a background as an investment funds structuring lawyer and found that the skillset required mapped across to family wealth structures. From there I built out my knowledge of charities and personal taxation to gain a holistic understanding of the sector and my clients.

What advice would you give rising stars/new lawyers in the private client world?

Work hard on the technical side but don't forget that your clients likely won't speak the same technical language as you. The ability to communicate is key.

What is your favourite quote?

“Reading furnishes the mind only with materials of knowledge; it is thinking that makes what we read ours.” John Locke.
