What has been the highlight of your practice over the past 12 months?

I have enjoyed the policy work I do with STEP, interacting with HMRC and OECD on changes regarding global compliance, such as AML. It conditions a lot of what we have to do and advocates a position for our industry.

How did you get into private client?

I trained with Mills & Reeve in Norwich and landed in private client in the first 6 months, after which I circled back. I moved to Yorkshire in 1989 and started working with business families before moving to London in 1996. The technical tax changes and the people interest me the most– the intellectual challenge and connection with families.

Do you have any outside interests or hobbies?

Trail running – I compete in a mountain marathon each year in Switzerland. I love to be outdoors in the hills. I am involved in my local church and throughout lockdown, I have tried bread making!
