Q&A

What has been the highlight of your practice over the past 12 months?

The intellectual challenge in case after case that requires working across disciplines and specialties to apply complex facts (modern, international, multi-generation families and diverse assets, including trading businesses and new technologies such as crypto-currency) to complex law (trusts and succession law, CRS, beneficial ownership amongst myriad others) in order to provide clear, practical advice that clients' value.

What advice would you give rising stars/new lawyers in the private client world?

Most of our clients are either sophisticated individuals or experienced professionals and so we should work hard to understand what they are looking for from us and focus our advice on providing direct, practical solutions to specific questions - they do not need us to demonstrate that we know everything about everything and they do not want lengthy complex advice on irrelevant matters.

What is your favourite quote?

“The more I practice, the luckier I get,” Gary Player.
