Before coming to the Bar, Gilead enjoyed a brief career in publishing, editing books on photography, popular science and astronomy. He also spent a couple of years teaching in pre-revolutionary Iran. Gilead joined Wilberforce Chambers in 2015, specialising mainly in trusts and estates litigation. He has a particular interest in Art Law, as well as NFTs and digital assets. I’m the Managing Partner and Practice Leader of the Litigation team in our BVI office. I have practised in the BVI since 2011, before which, I worked in London at Macfarlanes LLP. I have extensive experience acting on a wide range of international litigation, contentious trust and insolvency matters, with emphasis on distressed funds work. I have been involved in many of the largest offshore disputes to come before the BVI Court in recent history including advising the beneficiaries and/or trustees of BVI trusts in relation to a wide range of different issues, including breach of trust claims, contested probate disputes, beneficiaries; information requests, issues with chains of trusteeship and in cases where the trustee has been named in foreign divorce proceedings in which the settlor or a beneficiary is a party.

We are involved in a number of contentious probate disputes relating to very large international estates, in a way that was not common 18 months ago. I don't expect any particular changes over the next year, but things get busier and busier, with increasing probate disputes.
