Why did you become a lawyer?

Having been a son of an Airline Pilot I soon realized that I was seeking an international career and the international side of tax law and international clients were my initial focus.

Who had the biggest influence on your career?

Having started my career at Arthur Andresen that highlighted the importance of international mindset, strong interpersonal skills, and technical excellence.

What is your proudest professional moment?

Having reached international partner at one of the largest law firms of Europe.

What was your worst day at work?

Always think that this day is still to come and will do everything to avoid it.

What advice would you give a trainee just starting out?

The hallmark of successful people is that they are always stretching themselves to learn new things.

Did you have a mentor who supported you in your early career? What was the most valuable thing they taught you?

There are many people who are behind whatever I've achieved so far. My wife was my biggest inspiration to push me up on the difficult moments and support my creative drive.

What do you think will be the most significant trend in your practice over the next 12 months?

Transparency, confidentiality and the debate around wealth inequality and fair share of tax.

What is the most unusual or shocking request you've ever had from a client?

That one is confidential.

What's your favourite midnight snack when you're in late from the office?

More coffee to stay awake.

What was your top lockdown box-set?

The series Freinds (to compensate the lack of those close by.

What do you do when you're not working? Any hobbies?

Surfing on the Portuguese beaches.

What would you do if you weren't a lawyer?

Investigative journalist.

What is the book you'd recommend to everyone?

Presumed Innocent, Scott Turow.
