What is your proudest professional moment?

When one of my team thanked me for helping them go onwards and upwards and not pulling the ladder up behind me.

What advice would you give a trainee just starting out?

Keep your sense of humour and, as you advance in your career, cherish both your family & your team- you need their support!

Did you have a mentor who supported you in your early career? What was the most valuable thing they taught you?

Michael Loup, one of our former senior partners, who taught me two things: to be brief and clear (his letters were often only 3 or 4 lines long, never went on to two pages, and he was merciless with a red pen on mine); and never to part with anyone on bad terms, whatever the rights and wrongs.

What do you do when you're not working? Any hobbies?

Cycling and walking the dogs

What would you do if you weren't a lawyer?

Either be a doctor or a concert pianist.
