Professional Biography

I am a Senior Associate in Mourant's International Trusts & Private Client team, based in Jersey. I specialise in providing Jersey legal advice, particularly non-contentious trust advisory work, which is typically complex, has an international element and is high-value. I also provide Jersey law advice on all non-contentious issues concerning Jersey foundations, wills and probate. In 2020 I was seconded to HSBC's legal team in Jersey for 10 months to support HSBC's Trust and Fiduciary Services business, which administers trust and other private wealth structures for a number of the world's wealthiest individuals and families.

What is your favorite restaurant to take a client or colleague to?

Oyster Box in St Brelade's Bay, Jersey. It has spectacular sea views and always goes down well with visiting clients and contacts.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

Always look at something that's outside your comfort zone as an opportunity to grow.

What was your first job?

Working in a garden centre. It didn’t last long however and I was fired for (unintentionally I might add) under charging people! On reflection, I did always have a very long queue at my till…

What is the book you recommend to everyone?

I'm dyslexic, so after a day of reading long and complex trust documents, reading for pleasure isn't at the top of my list of things to do to unwind. That said, I do like to relax with a good architecture book….'Soft Minimal' by Danish architects Norm Architects is a firm favourite of mine at the moment.

What changes do you expect to see in your practice over the next year?

I know it sounds boring, but I don't expect to see any significant changes in our practice over the next year. Client structures seem to be getting bigger, more sophisticated and fascinating in terms of asset class and I expect that to continue over the next year.
