Why did you become a lawyer?

I enjoy the intellectual challenge

A lawyer I used to work with at Taylor Wessing.

What is your proudest professional moment?

Becoming a Partner, after I started my legal career off as a legal secretary

What was your worst day at work?

I cannot recall a really bad day. Difficult things happen but you have to handle them and good/bad is just a perception anyway

What advice would you give a trainee just starting out?

Focus on responsiveness and attention to detail. Ask if you have a question.

Did you have a mentor who supported you in your early career? What was the most valuable thing they taught you?

I did not have a mentor, but I found many of the partners at Taylor Wessing with whom I worked for so long quite inspirational in terms of commercial astuteness

What do you think will be the most significant trend in your practice over the next 12 months?

Investments in crypto.

What is the most unusual or shocking request you've ever had from a client?

Sourcing rare goats for export as pets to a Royal Palace in the Middle East

What's your favourite midnight snack when you're in late from the office?

Would not know, don't work in the office at midnight!

What was your top lockdown box-set?

Poldark.

What do you do when you're not working? Any hobbies?

Dog walking, gardening, property construction, development and interior design. Hill walking, mountain climbing and overseas travel.

What would you do if you weren't a lawyer?

Property developer (which I do in my spare time anyway).

What is the book you'd recommend to everyone?

Cannot recommend a book really as I rarely get time to read.

Continuing to act as trusted advisor to many prominent families in the Middle East.

What song will never fail to get you on the dance floor?

None - you won't get me on the dance floor! Only a lot of alcohol would do that.
