What has been the highlight of your practice over the past 12 months?

Advising a high-profile family on difficult issues concerning the loss of mental capacity of the patriarch.

How did you get into private client?

I trained at Norton Rose, with an optional seat in private client (you had to request it.) I chose Norton Rose as it had private client still, which is where I fell into it all. Six months later, Norton Rose got rid of its private client practice in 1997, so I moved to Charles Russell Speechlys then.

What advice would you give rising stars/new lawyers in the private client world?

Be yourself and connect with like-minded intermediaries, your working relationships are such a large part of your career going forward.

What is your favourite quote?

“All men have an instinct for conflict: at least, all healthy men”

Do you have any outside interests or hobbies?

Art is a big one! I also enjoy riding. Country walks too – especially in lockdown.

When the restaurants reopen, where would you like to go?

Spring, London.
