What has been the highlight of your practice over the past 12 months?

Being part of the team who acted for the successful husband in the groundbreaking LCYP v JEK litigation which involved the enforcement of a New Jersey prenuptial agreement and the protection of US discretionary trusts. This is now the leading Hong Kong case on nuptial agreements and the treatment of trusts on divorce.

What advice would you give rising stars/new lawyers in the private client world?

An ability to think and work internationally is invaluable. UHNW clients are internationally mobile and often have assets and interests across the world. Gain experience in offshore cases, consider spending some time practising in a foreign jurisdiction and build a network of international contacts. This will ensure you have the knowledge and expertise to deliver the seamless and creative cross border advice which UHNW clients require.

What is your favourite quote?

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts,” Winston Churchill.

Do you have any outside interests or hobbies?

Rugby union and travel.
