What has been the highlight of your practice over the past 12 months?

Joining Hunters! The number of landed estate clients that we have is near 100. I have a fantastic range and type of work to do. I really enjoy bringing together a team of professionals, to help give a family landed estate business a strategy.
The matter that I am enjoying the most from a technical law perspective, is advising one of two landlords on dealing with a split freehold reversion of an Agricultural Holdings Act 1986 tenancy. This involves finding a way for the now two landlords to make the tenancy work for them and the tenant.

What advice would you give rising stars/new lawyers in the private client world?

Engage yourself in as many varied types of client and work as possible. That sounds obvious, but some clients may not ostensibly fit your or your firm's client profile. Yet, they can be the source of the most fascinating work.
Also, be professionally gregarious and don't just sit in the office. I think it's crucial to be willing to step up to lead.
Look as if you're having fun doing what you are doing and if you're not, make it fun. Approach your business development from an angle that people will want to know you and your business.

What is your favourite quote?
