What has been the highlight of your practice over the past 12 months?

A particularly memorable occasion was giving my first Valedictory at the High Court, for Sir Paul Coleridge within three weeks of becoming Resolution Chair; and the first time I gave evidence to a parliamentary select committee. I also quickly adjusted to the many press interviews that the role demanded. Public speaking is not my forte, but I quickly learned that it is about trying to establish a connection with your particular audience. The pinnacle of my two-year role, though, was definitely meeting the Queen.

What advice would you give rising stars/new lawyers in the private client world?

Be adaptable and embrace different types of solutions. The lawyers who are thriving are those who are adaptable – offering pro bono services to some, unbundled legal services to others, and the full Rolls Royce service to those who can afford it.

What is your favourite quote?

“One of the lessons that I grew up with was to always stay true to yourself and never let what somebody else says distract you from your goals,” Michelle Obama.
