What has been the highlight of your practice over the past 12 months?

I was fortunate enough to be in the Privy Council in London on two occasions in the last 12 months, since appeals from offshore Courts of the BVI, the Cayman Islands and Bermuda still go to London. There is something truly magical about walking along Bird Cage Walk, St James Park to the Privy Council before a hearing. You feel a heady mix of trepidation and excitement, and the walk through the park helps to calm the nerves.

How did you get into private client?

I really enjoyed the close personal relationships that you build with private clients, which you might not get with cold corporate clients. You can build lasting relationships and you’re needed long term. Having moved out to Asia. I met elite families and the rest was history.

What advice would you give rising stars/new lawyers in the private client world?

There is no rush. Take the time to do private research on the law and become an expert.

What is your favourite quote?

"If I had more time, I would have written something shorter."

Do you have any outside interests or hobbies?

Trail running.

When the restaurants reopen, where would you like to go?

Otto e Metze – lovely Italian restaurant here in Hong Kong.
