What has been the highlight of your practice over the past 12 months?

To have strengthened client relationships and increased productivity in the extraordinary events of 2020 has been notable – but to have remained sane is a highlight!

How did you get into private client?

Initially, I was a corporate tax lawyer at Slaughter and May. I chose tax as I liked the work, but there was limited personal interaction with clients (faceless corporates.) I wanted to be far more involved with individuals to build up long-term relationships. The natural progression was to take that tax knowledge and bring it across into private client, which is both technical and advisory.

What advice would you give rising stars/new lawyers in the private client world?

It is very important to start networking and cultivating contacts at an early stage in your career as they take time to develop and to bear fruit.

What is your favourite quote?

"You'll work all your life to be a success overnight" Warren Miller.

Do you have any outside interests or hobbies?

My main hobbies are windsurfing, skiing and tennis but I also love music (particularly Drum and Bass!)

When the restaurants reopen, where would you like to go?

Floating Market Restaurant – St Regis, Le Morne Mauritius – perfect after a day’s windsurfing in one of the world’s finest spots.
