What has been the highlight of your practice over the past 12 months?

I particularly enjoyed assisting a local fiduciary services provider in respect of a structure whose royal ultimate beneficial owner was placed under house arrest in Saudi Arabia as part of the Crown Prince's "anti-corruption purge". This involved advising as to appropriate responses to information requests of dubious provenance, considering available methods of safeguarding aircraft subject to grounding restrictions, and opining on the legal status of ransom demands, in a highly politically sensitive and fast-changing context.

What advice would you give rising stars/new lawyers in the private client world?

I have found that building good relationships with clients, whether they be trust companies or individuals, is key in the private client world and that being approachable and courteous is just as important as providing sound legal advice.

What is your favourite quote?

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing,” Edmund Burke.
